Hailing from Mumbai, India, Rohit Relan is a driven film director. His prowess is evident through multiple acclaimed short films, celebrated at renowned film festivals. Complementing his directorial skills, he contributed as an assistant director in mainstream Hindi films and Netflix web series.
Rohit’s fervor for cinema and visual storytelling is unwavering. His mission resonates with bringing lesser-known narratives to the forefront, captivating audiences. Beyond his artistic pursuits, he’s dedicated to amplifying South Asian voices on a global stage, fostering cultural representation.
Currently, Rohit is pursuing an MFA in film directing at the American Film Institute, a testament to his commitment to honing his craft. Grounded in his passion and purpose, Rohit Relan’s journey epitomizes the power of storytelling in bridging cultures and communities.
Tiffany is a narrative-centered producer, born in Taiwan and raised in California. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Brooke is a cinematographer based in Los Angeles, CA. Her passion for visual storytelling has led her to embark on this exciting journey at the American Film Institute as a cinematography fellow. Born and raised in Chisago City, Minnesota, Brooke moved to Los Angeles to chase her dream of becoming a filmmaker in 2017. Her passion and work ethic has given her the opportunity to work in both camera and lighting as she refines her craft and works towards becoming a skilled cinematographer. Brooke loves having the opportunity to help tell the story that the director is seeing in their head by evoking emotions visually.
Siddharth Lal is a filmmaker and editor with a passion for telling authentic stories. His goal has always been and will always be to contribute as much as possible in creating impactful cinema that has the potential to change people’s lives. He has 4 years of hands-on experience in Post Production and various aspects of film production, and is polished in various Post Workflows, linear and non-linear editing, sound design and mixing.
His interest in making films started with him creating short films for his YouTube channel. Having been completely self-taught, his passion for storytelling grew rapidly and he got into the #1 Ranked Film School – American Film Institute Conservatory by submitting one of his YouTube films Resurgence.mp4, and became one of the youngest fellows to be enrolled in the school.
Reem AL Shaini, a native from Amman, Jordan. Holding a B.Sc. in Architecture from the German Jordanian University, she evolved from shaping structures to crafting narratives. Her foundation in design and understanding of emotional spatial impact serve as the cornerstone of her creative journey. With years of architectural experience shaping her perspective, Reem’s passion for film led her to collaborate on captivating visual narratives through her involvement in multiple short films and high-scale commercials.
Having travelled to many places around the world, Reem’s horizons have broadened, enriching her vision and understanding of various cultures. Currently pursuing her dream at the American Film Institute, she aims to blend her design finesse and storytelling skills as a production designer. Reem’s distinct fusion of architectural insight and artistic vision defines her journey as a future storyteller through design.
Umut started off his screenwriting journey back in 2017 where he wrote for the stage with the National Theatre for All scheme in London, whilst doubling as a watchmaker. It wasn’t until he started writing with the National Film and Television School as well as learning from BAFTA Guru where writing for the screen whetted his appetite. He is interested in characters that are emotional, complex, human and tragic and is excited to be collaborating on this thought-provoking project.
